Two men charged with murder in the death of a 21-year-old man in a south Auckland park have been denied bail.
Nigel Fuatimu died after a “random and unprovoked” attack in Jellicoe Park, Manurewa, on Saturday, October 3, 2020.
Judge Clark denied bail to the two men, ages 23 and 24, who were granted provisional name removal.
They had previously been charged with assault, but the police dropped those charges and amounted to murder that same day.

Judge Clark cited concerns that either man could interfere with evidence or witnesses, preventing a police investigation while rendering the decision.
Two other men, both 26, faced charges of aggravated robbery in connection with Fuatimu’s death.
One was granted bail, while the other was not. They were also granted the provisional removal of the name until November 18, when the matter will be heard in Superior Court.
Fuatimu was found unconscious in the park and attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Acting Inspector Warrick Adkin, a Manukau County Police, previously said that before the attack, Fuatimu had been having drinks at a nearby house and listening to music.
A close relative previously told you Things Fuatimu’s death had been “a great shock.”
The woman described him as a calm and shy man, who had “such a bright future ahead of him.”
