A new case of Covid-19 was announced on Friday, which is in controlled isolation.
The Health Ministry said the case was a fisherman from the Russian and Ukrainian group in isolation at the Sudima Hotel in Christchurch.
The new case was a close contact of a previously reported case from the same group of fishermen who had tested positive during testing on day 6 and as such was already being closely monitored.
Six cases of the virus were detected in isolation on Thursday.
