A 45-year-old man has been charged in connection with four separate incidents in Upper Riccarton this morning.
The Christchurch man will face three counts of assault with intent to rape a woman older than 16, five counts of robbery and one count of impaired breathing / blood circulation.
He will appear this afternoon in Christchurch District Court.
The five women at the center of these incidents showed extreme courage and police are providing support, Detective Sgt. Colin Baillie said.
“Despite these traumatic events, thanks to the actions of these women, we were able to mobilize our personnel to the area quickly and locate the suspect.
“The police would like to thank members of the public who have provided information.
Today we are also conducting scene reviews at various Upper Riccarton properties. “

This morning, police said they had received reports of a man illegally entering two residential properties in the suburb between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. today.
