The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a bush while allegedly fleeing police in Dunedin yesterday is the same man who reportedly banged on doors and told people he was “fundraising,” police say.

Acting Sergeant Major Anthony Bond said police identified a vehicle of interest at 12 p.m. yesterday and attempted to stop it on King Edward St, near Wilkie Rd.

“The vehicle initially stopped but then took off; the police followed it and a chase began.”
