Covid-19: Tonga further expands state of emergency

Tonga has once again extended its state of emergency, put in place to protect against Covid-19.

To date this has been successful, with no reported cases in the country.

The state of emergency was first declared on March 12 and lasted until November 23.

These are nighttime curfews imposed by the police, the military and other officials.

Indoor gatherings cannot exceed 50 and outdoor gatherings 100, unless for religious services or schools.
