Anthony Simon Pickering has denied causing the death of his son.

Now a man can be named charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of baby Poseidyn Hemopo Pickering.

Poseidyn was 10 months old when he was taken to the Starship Children’s Hospital on September 5 with head injuries. He died the next day.

Poseidyn’s father, Anthony Simon Pickering, 31, appeared in Auckland High Court on Wednesday. Pickering denied the manslaughter charge when he first appeared in Manukau District Court and was granted provisional name removal.

Pickering’s attorney, Quentin Duff, said Wednesday that the provisional removal of names could expire.

Pickering appeared on the dock Wednesday wearing a T-shirt with a photo of Poseidyn.

Detective Sergeant Major Kevin Tiernan said Stuff at that time the baby was transported from an address on William Ave in Manurewa to Starship.

Judge Geoffrey Venning set a trial date for October 2021 and placed Pickering in custody.
