The Roses will face the Silver Ferns on Wednesday in what will be their first action in eight months. But they are adjusting to life in New Zealand first, after traveling from a country that is dealing with a second wave of Covid-19.

“Yeah to be honest it felt a bit strange, without masks, you can go in and out of the cafeterias as you want … wow, what a privilege,” said England co-captain Serena Guthrie.

The extended period of time out of action means that players are enjoying the parts of training they might have once dreaded.

“When we first went back to training, even the transfers to and from the court, we loved life doing them,” Jade Clarke said midway.

England have already played two games with yesterday’s hit against New Zealand A played behind closed doors and the score remains a secret.

They are also without some of their best players due to Australian Super Netball duties as they take on world champion Silver Ferns.

“Yes, we know that we will not be the finished article and, of course, we are aware of the challenges that come with facing a team that has had a whole season and has had the preparation that they had, but we have to concentrate on ourselves”, Guthrie said.
