The New Zealand Public Party (NZPP) and Advance NZ have dissolved their electoral alliance after obtaining just 0.9% of the vote in the 2020 general election.

The NZPP, led by controversial front man Billy Te Kahika, joined Advance NZ, led by former National Party MP Jami-Lee Ross, in the run-up to the elections on a platform largely based on promoting theories of conspiracy.
In a statement today, Te Kahika said that “the NZPP will continue to denounce things on behalf of the public, subjecting this government to scrutiny, demanding its responsibility and defending our rights and freedoms.
“We will also be a watchdog of the New Zealand media who continue to be hostile towards the organization that is legitimately questioning the government’s COVID-19 narrative and educating the public about the blatantly dishonest actions of this sector towards us and the persistent bias of the facts. and misinformation, “he said.
Despite the split, Te Kahika said Ross’s Advance NZ would continue to count on her support.
“Advance NZ will always have our support in the future and I will still have great respect and friendship with Jami-Lee Ross and we will still work together on common goals where necessary,” said Te Kahika.
NZPP said Billy Te Kahika has not stepped down as leader and “is not severing his relationship with Advance NZ – he is simply restoring autonomy.”
