A baby died after emergency services were called to a home in Hamilton this morning.

Police said they were called to an address in the suburb of Nawton around 9:30 a.m., where a baby was not responding.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the baby could not be revived and died at the scene, police said in a statement.

“The police are on the scene investigating what happened, however, it does not seem anything suspicious at this time.”
Last Thursday, police launched an investigation after a girl was found dead in a house in Ōtara in south Auckland.

Manukau County Police Acting Detective Inspector Warrick Adkin said they were called to a Sandbrook Ave property around 10 a.m.

Detective Sergeant Major Veronica McPherson said today that police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

A post-mortem exam was completed yesterday. More tests are required and will be completed as soon as possible, he said.

An examination of the scene was completed yesterday at an address on Sandbrook Ave.

No charges have been filed, McPherson said.
