US President Donald Trump says he believes Sacha Baron Cohen, the comedian behind the Borat films, is “a scoundrel.”

Baron Cohen’s new film, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, shows Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani in a compromising position in a hotel room with a young woman acting as a journalist.

On Friday (Saturday NZT), the Daily Mail reported that the same actress was invited to the White House in late September, just a few feet from the US president.

Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One late Friday that he did not know what happened to Giuliani.

“But, you know, years ago he tried to rip me off,” Trump said of Baron Cohen. “And I was the only one who said, ‘No way. This guy is a fake guy. ‘

“I don’t find him funny,” Trump said, adding, “To me, he’s a scoundrel.

Trump appeared briefly on HBO’s Da Ali G in 2003, but walked away from an interview with Baron Cohen’s Ali G character after just a minute.

A scene in the new Baron Cohen movie scene shows Giuliani on a bed, hand tucking his shirt into his pants after the woman helps him remove his recording equipment.

Giuliani called the scene “a successful job” and said he realized he was being cheated on.
