Four fire crews attended the fire at this Spreydon home.

Fire crews have put out a fire in a “heavily involved” house in Christchurch.

New Zealand Fire and Emergency spokeswoman Jill Higginson said crews were called in around 1 a.m. Friday for a house fire on Stourbridge St, near Mountfort St, in Spreydon.

Four crews responded to the fire “well involved,” he said.

Higginson could not confirm if there were people in the home at the time of the fire, but said no one was injured and that all were accounted for.

Crews were called in around 1 a.m. for the fire.

Fire crews left the scene shortly after 5 a.m., he said.

A fire investigator would be on the scene later Friday, but the fire was not being treated as a suspect.

A spokesman for St John said they were notified but did not attend. A police spokeswoman said they attended to help firefighters.
