People who visited a Greenhithe pub last week are asked to isolate themselves and get tested for Covid-19 after an infected person went there.
The Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) issued the advisory when trying to establish the person’s movements while they were infectious.
They had been at The Malt pub on Friday October 16, from 7.30 pm to 10 pm. The person is one of the cases announced today by the Ministry of Health.
An ARPHS spokesperson said some close contacts at the pub had already been identified and were being contacted. The pub staff is also being vetted.
Most of the people in the pub would be considered casual contacts, but they are urged to get tested as soon as possible.
ARPHS said those individuals must also remain in self-isolation until they receive a negative test result.
If people who were in the bar at the same time show symptoms or become ill, even after a negative test result, they should re-isolate themselves and take the test again.
Tomorrow a pop-up community testing center will open in Greenhithe. A list of urgent care clinics that are open tonight and offering testing is available on the ARPHS website and below.
Household members of tonight’s pub patrons only need to be tested and stay home if the person in the pub becomes ill or develops any symptoms, or unless otherwise directed by Public Health.
People who scanned the Covid-19 Tracer app at The Malt tonight should receive a notification, confirming that they were there at the same time as the case.
Users and staff should be on the lookout for Covid-19 symptoms for the next 14 days. If they develop symptoms, they should call Healthline on 0800 358 5453 or their GP.
Symptoms include new or worsening cough, sore throat, runny nose, loss of sense or smell, or fever.
