Another large house fire has kept firefighters busy overnight, this time in Palmerston North.
Four crews were dispatched to Heretaunga St shortly after 1.30 am after several calls from the public, a spokesperson said.
New Zealand Fire and Emergency Shift Manager Mike Wānoa said the fire started in the basement and spread through the two-story home.
They all came out safe and sound, he said, and the fire is out.
However, a team remains on site to monitor the property.
A fire investigator should be on site today to investigate the cause and circumstances of the fire.
Hours after deadly Auckland house fire
It comes after a large house fire was reported in Cockle Bay, East Auckland, just before 7pm yesterday.
Police confirmed last night that one person had died and two others were injured when a fire swept through a property in Minerva Terrace.
St John said the injured were taken to Middlemore Hospital, one in critical condition and the other in serious condition.
This morning, northern fire communications said fire crews had left the scene at midnight.
