Rebeka Storey has been missing for more than a month and the police and her family are asking for information to find her.
Rebeka Storey has been missing for over a month, despite extensive searches at the campsite where her car was found.
The Tauranga woman told her family that she was heading to her sister’s home in Ranfurly on September 5 and planned to camp overnight along the way.
But she never succeeded, nor did she communicate with her family, and the police recovered her white Suzuki Swift from a camp in Waioeka Gorge, between Ōpōtiki and Gisborne.
“The surrounding area has been extensively searched by search and rescue,” said a statement from Detective Sergeant Major Craig Rawlinson of the Western Bay of Plenty Police.

“Unfortunately, there has been no sign of Rebeka, and the police and her family are very concerned about her.”
A former colleague of Storey’s, who worked with her in a support service for the disabled, said she is an extremely capable free spirit who loves nature.
Maz Wiringi spoke in hopes of helping Storey.
“She was my right hand and a great support when I needed it, both professionally and personally,” said Wiringi.
In late September and early October, Wiringi spent a couple of days wandering through the Waioeka Gorge and around the camp where Storey’s car had been found.
“I felt like I had to do something but of course I didn’t find anything … not even a feeling,” he said.
“I wish she was somewhere alive and well.”
The last confirmed sighting of Storey was in Greerton, Tauranga; visited the Caltex at 11:47 p.m. on Sept. 5, police said.
His white Suzuki, registration CWD620, registered southbound on the Tauranga East Interchange at 12:31 a.m. M.
Around noon on September 6, the car was seen at Manganuku Camp on State Highway 2 in the Waioeka Gorge.
Police are urging anyone who has seen Rebeka, or her vehicle, since Sept. 5 to contact 105 and cite file number 200909/2598.
