Speaking about the party on Newshub Nation, Ross told host O’Brien “we got it right.”
“It was clearly not enough, but I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with all the people I have,” he said Sunday.
O’Brien asked Ross if he regretted being part of an election campaign that was selling misinformation.
“You know exactly what you were doing; you were fomenting fear and hysteria among vulnerable communities,” he told Ross.
Ross again tried to claim that the death rate for COVID-19 is similar to that of seasonal flu, something that experts have refuted. O’Brien intervened before continuing.
“I don’t want to hear any of that crap,” he said.
Then he asked Ross why he withdrew from the Botany electorate candidacy, where he was the incumbent deputy. The seat was won by Christopher Luxon of National on Saturday night.
“I wanted to focus on the national campaign with Advance New Zealand. We had 62 new candidates,” Ross responded.
He claims that if he had stood up, he would have “removed so many votes from Luxon that Labor would have won the seat.”
“You’re dreaming, buddy,” O’Brien said.
