Election 2020: Half of all registered voters have cast their ballot before Election Day

Politicians hoping to sway voters on Saturday can only speak to half of the registered population.

As of Thursday, 50.7 percent of all registered voters had already cast their ballots in the elections.

Data released by the Election Commission showed Thursday’s vote count increased by 176,229 votes, the largest weekday increase since early voting began on October 3.

That brings the total number of early votes cast to 1,742,960, 71.2% more than the early votes cast in the 2017 elections.

The Electoral Commission is counting and publishing early voting data during the 14-day period. It is estimated that about 60 percent of all votes cast in this election will be cast by Saturday.

On Saturday, 2,567 polling places will be open nationwide from 9 a.m. M. A 7 p. M., Which will give last minute voters time to weigh in.

Elections Director Alicia Wright said in a statement that it was great to see the number of early votes surpass 1.5 million on Wednesday.

“It is great that so many people have left early to vote, but there are still many who have not and we do not want them to lose.”

Some 1,693,218 registered voters have yet to submit their ballots.

“It is important that you express your opinion on who will represent you in Parliament for the next three years. Saturday is your last chance to register, vote and be heard, ”Wright said.

Preliminary results for this year’s election will be released Saturday after voting closes at 7 pm.

The results of the two referendums, the end-of-life election bill and the legalization of cannabis, will not be published in full until November 6.
