Person treated for injuries after vehicle crashed in Wellington harbor

One person was pulled out of the water after their vehicle crashed on a seaside road and landed in Wellington Harbor.

Police were called in for the incident between Carlton Gore Rd and Evans Bay Parade near Point Jerningham around 5 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle is reportedly on his roof.

One person was treated by Wellington Free Ambulance after the incident.

The sole occupant of the vehicle has been pulled out of the water.

Wellington Free Ambulance spokeswoman Sarah Coulthard said the person was being treated for minor injuries. It was not yet known whether they required hospital treatment.

A police spokeswoman said a tow truck was being prepared to lift the car out of the water.

The car crashed into a barrier to enter the port.
