Detectives are asking for help identifying a speeding car near the place where an Auckland mother died.

Meliame Fisi’ihoi, 57, was shot through the window of her home in Favona, south of Auckland, at around 2.45am on January 15.

Police have now released a CCTV image of a car that they believe could generate new leads.

It is a black 2005-2009 BMW 320i sedan.

Police said he was seen driving down Favona Rd toward James Fletcher Drive, passing the intersection with Savill Drive in Māngere.

Detective Sergeant Karen Bright is urging anyone with information to come forward.

“I have no doubt that there are people who will recognize this vehicle and know who was using it at the time of the murder.”

She said police did not have the record, but that the photo would be meaningful to people who knew the car.

“This can also arouse suspicions from other people who know people connected to the vehicle.”

Police said that at the time of the shooting, Fisi’ihoi was watching television when he heard a noise outside.

He walked to the front parlor window and was fatally shot.

Detectives believed the Calthorp Close property was targeted specifically because of people known to frequent the address, Manukau County Police Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers said in January.

Bright said Fisi’ihoi was a hardworking parishioner who was not involved in anything illegal.

The vehicle is a black BMW 320i sedan and is a 2005-2009 model.
