It is understood that the police have discovered a major cannabis operation in Christchurch.

Police have discovered what is believed to be a large cannabis operation during a series of raids on Christchurch properties.

Stuff understands that the police have arrested three people.

Officers could be seen searching two neighboring properties on Kellys Rd in Mairehau shortly after 11.30 a.m. Wednesday. The agents were also seen at a property on nearby Bronwyn St, which was also believed to be related to the alleged cannabis operation.

The two properties are owned by Antony Thomas Cole.

Detective Sergeant Major Joel Syme said police had visited five properties across the city on Wednesday.

Large amounts of cash and other assets have been seized, and several important cannabis crops have been located.

“Police remain committed to cracking down on those who profit from organized crime, as the activity associated with their operations impacts our communities.”

Police could be seen carrying filters and lamps from the house and stacking them on the property, along with large garbage bags filled with what appeared to be cannabis.

Each of the properties is owned by Antony Thomas Cole.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that the police were conducting a planned search of the area.
