A Canterbury motorist seen weaving into his lane nearly hitting a sidewalk flew six times the legal alcohol limit.

Officer Blair Croucher was driving down Lowes Rd, Rolleston, at around 8pm Monday night when he noticed a driver moving in his lane and indicating at least 500m before turning right onto Rembrandt Dr.

When pulled over, the 30-year-old driver registered a breath alcohol level of 1,511 micrograms. The legal limit is 250 mcg.

“She said that she likes her drink too much. I offered her support through various agencies, to which she refused, but I will request an order through the courts for her to attend and complete an intensive program to quit alcohol when she is declared guilty, “Croucher said. He said.

The woman’s decision to get behind the wheel was “extremely disappointing,” he said.
