A child was referred to Youth Aid after he allegedly pointed a fake gun at people at an Auckland bus stop.
Police were called after several witnesses saw a young man wave and point what appeared to be a pistol at people on Lake Rd in Devonport around 4 p.m. Saturday.

Later, officers found a young man who fit the description aboard a bus heading to nearby Belmont.

He was carrying an imitation firearm that he admitted to purchasing from a local store earlier that day.
Police continue to investigate.
Tāmaki Makaurau Police Sergeant Major Terry Lee said he appreciated people calling 111 in such incidents to help keep communities safe.
“We encourage everyone to exercise good judgment when in public and consider their actions and how they may affect others.”
