The woman died Tuesday afternoon on Whites Beach, Piha.
One woman who died after falling into the water from rocks on a West Auckland beach was Anisa Ghanizada, 23.
Police received a report that a woman had entered the water in Whites Beach, Anawhata, around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Surf lifeguards pulled her out of the water, but she died on the spot.
“Unfortunately, attempts to revive her were unsuccessful,” said a police spokesman.

Stay away from rocks and rips on the beach during the summer, say Surf Life Savers. (The video was first posted in November 2019).
Surf Life Saving Northern Region spokesman Alan Gibson said two lifeguards from nearby Bethells Beach and two from Piha were called in for the incident.
Piha’s rescuers first arrived at the scene in an inflatable rubber boat and pulled the woman out of the water.
They tried to give CPR on shore, but were unsuccessful.
In a statement, Surf Life Saving said it was not known how Ghanizada ended up in the water, but urged people to use “extreme caution” on Auckland’s west coast beaches, known for their treacherous waters.
“The beaches are very dangerous when the waves are high.”
That particular beach is a beach without a lifeguard and is currently out of the Surf Life Saving New Zealand patrol season.
White’s Beach is a small remote beach north of Piha. It is surrounded by steep cliffs and can only be reached on foot via a beach path.
Meanwhile, the search continues for a missing fisherman, who was washed away while rock fishing with a group in O’Neill’s Bay on Monday.
Search and rescue teams and the police eagle helicopter are involved in the search on Kauwahaia Island, near Bethells Beach.
