Six60 fans, your summer plans are settled: beloved band Kiwi will embark on a massive tour in January and February next year.
Dubbed Six60 Saturdays, the band will play six shows on Saturdays across the country, with the support of some of Kiwi’s favorites.
Also, the band has teased that it will be playing new tracks, so fans of these live shows might be the first to hear new music. The band has been recording this year and is working on a new album.
Their last tour in early 2020 sold out, and the band sold more than 130,000 tickets. The five-piece Dunedin also made history by selling tickets to Auckland’s Western Springs Stadium for the second year in a row.
The tour begins in Northland on January 16, where they will perform at Waitangi Sports Ground with Drax Project, Troy Kingi and Paige as supporting acts.
From there, the band head to Hastings to play a show on January 23 at the Tomoana Showgrounds with an epic lineup of Shapeshifter, Kings, Maimoa and Nouri.
Six60 will play at the Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth, again accompanied by Shapeshifter, as well as Ladi6, Foley and Valkyrie.
In February, the boys will head to the South Island for a Christchurch show at Hagley Park, with the support of Dave Dobbyn, Drax Project and brother duo Broods.
Wellington will also get its dose of Dave Dobbyn before the band takes the stage at Sky Stadium on February 13, and will also be joined by Drax Project, JessB and Aacacia.
Six60 will wrap up its epic tour at Hamilton’s Claudelands Oval with Mitch James, Paige, Drax Project and Aacacia.
While 2020 has been a year plagued with live concert cancellations due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the band has a backup plan in place, with dates set aside in late 2021 in the event of a change in alert levels.
The pre-sale begins at noon on October 15 and tickets go on sale to the general public from Monday, October 19 at 12 noon. For complete information on ticket sales, visit the band’s website.
Fans wanting their fix of Six60 should also mark November 26 on their calendars; that’s when a full-length documentary about the band will be released. The movie called Six60: Till The Lights Go Out will take a close look at the history of the band and how they became one of Aotearoa’s biggest and most popular live acts.
And Air New Zealand offers a unique opportunity for fans to see it aboard Flight NZ660 from Auckland to Dunedin on Saturday, November 14.
Customers on board the flight can meet the band, which originated in Dunedin and will travel on the service, as well as being the first in the world to see the film.
Brand and Marketing General Manager Jeremy O’Brien said the airline was delighted to host the event.
“As a nation, we are very proud of SIX60 and the phenomenal success they have achieved on the world stage, so we are very excited to be able to offer this experience to New Zealand fans.
“Because the package is based on a one-way ticket to Dunedin, it is also a way to support tourism in the city and the region.
“We hope that most passengers will consider staying a night or two or exploring the region further once they get there.
“We wanted to offer this special service to Dunedin, the place where it all began for SIX60, as a way of thanking our customers for their support this year.
“It’s great to be able to host the premiere and help celebrate the band’s incredible success with Kiwis.”
Tickets are on sale now from $ 159 and are available through the airline’s grabaseat website.
