Cannabis experts are discussing whether recreational use of the drug should be legalized in the referendum.
Thirteen panelists participate in Newshub’s The Cannabis Question, presented by Patrick Gower.
Panelists are from across the spectrum on legalizing recreational use, and include former Prime Minister Helen Clark, former Deputy Prime Minister Paula Bennett and the Prime Minister’s Chief Scientific Advisor Juliet Gerrard.
The latest UMR poll, published by the Helen Clark Foundation and the New Zealand Drug Foundation, shows that 49 percent are in favor of legalizing recreational drug use and 45 percent oppose.
That’s much closer than last week’s Newshub-Reid Research poll, which showed 50.5 percent don’t support legalizing recreational use and 37.9 percent say yes.
