Medical experts are criticizing the president of the United States, Donald Trump, as “crazy” and “irresponsible” for leaving the hospital and surprising his followers, days after he tested positive for Covid-19.
Trump briefly left the hospital this morning to greet supporters in his caravan, despite the president’s medical team confirming hours earlier that his blood oxygen level suddenly dropped twice in recent days. But they also said that he could be discharged on Monday (local time).

At least one medical professional inside Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where Trump has been hospitalized since Friday night, questioned why Trump would do such a risky thing for “political theater.”
“Every person in the vehicle during that completely unnecessary presidential step now has to be quarantined for 14 days. They can get sick. They may die. For political theater. Sent by Trump to put their lives at risk for the theater. This is crazy, ”tweeted Dr. James P. Phillips, Walter Reed’s GP.

“That presidential SUV is not only bulletproof, it is hermetically sealed against chemical attack. The risk of Covid-19 transmission indoors is as high as outside of medical procedures. Other medical experts have also condemned the president of the United States for putting the health of others at risk and possibly causing the spread of the virus.
Jonathan Reiner, professor of medicine and surgery at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Services, he said in a tweet: “By taking a joyous walk in front of Walter Reed, the President is putting his Secret Service detachment at serious risk.”

Yashar Ali, a journalist and former Hillary Clinton campaign staff member, also shared a text message that he claimed was from a former Secret Service agent on Twitter.

The press group was not informed about the departure of President Walter Reed, prompting the White House Correspondents Association to criticize Trump in a statement.
“It is outrageous that the president has left the hospital, even briefly, in the midst of a health crisis without a protection group present to ensure that the American people know where their president is and how he is doing,” the statement said.
“Now more than ever, the American public deserves independent coverage of the president so they can be reliably informed about their health.”
White House spokesman Judd Deere said in a statement after the trip: “President Trump made a last minute little caravan to greet his supporters outside and has now returned to the presidential suite inside Walter Reed.”
Before his brief drive, Trump posted a video on Twitter telling his followers he “got it.”
“It has been a very interesting trip. I learned a lot about Covid, ”Trump said, standing in his hospital room. “I learned it by actually going to school.”
Earlier in the day, Trump’s doctors revealed that they gave the president a steroid treatment that is generally only recommended for the very sick. But they avoided questions about exactly when Trump’s blood oxygen dropped, an episode they didn’t mention in multiple statements the day before, or whether lung scans showed any damage.
It was the second consecutive day of confusion and obfuscation for a White House already suffering from a credibility crisis. And it raised questions about whether the doctors treating the president were sharing accurate and timely information with the American public about the severity of his condition.
Pressed by conflicting information that he and the White House released on Saturday, Navy Commander Dr. Sean Conley acknowledged that he had tried to present an optimistic description of the president’s condition.
“I was trying to reflect the optimistic attitude of the team, that the president, who has had his course of illness. I did not want to give any information that could direct the course of the disease in another direction, ”said Conley. “And in doing so, it seemed like we were trying to hide something, which wasn’t necessarily true. Medical experts said Conley’s revelations raised new questions about how ill the president was and are difficult to square with the doctor’s optimistic assessment and talk of a discharge.
