Donald Trump has briefly left Walter Reed Military Hospital, where he is being treated for Covid-19, to go for a walk.
It comes on the heels of the US president posting an upbeat video message thanking his medical team and supporters.
“We are receiving excellent reports from the doctors, this is an incredible hospital Walter Reed, the work they do is absolutely incredible and I want to thank everyone, the nurses, the doctors, everyone who is here,” he said in a video . posted on Twitter.
Trump thanked the crowd of supporters gathered outside and said he would pay “a little surprise visit.”
“I also think we are going to give a little surprise to some of the great patriots that we have on the streets and who have been here for a long time. They have Trump flags and they love our country. I will not tell anyone but to you, but I’m about to pay a little surprise visit.
“It may come before you see me, but when I look at the enthusiasm, we have an enthusiasm like no one has probably ever had.
“People who love the work we are doing are more enthusiastic than anyone.
“It has been a very interesting trip, I have learned a lot about Covid. I really learned it going to school, this is the real school, this is not the school of ‘let’s read the book’ and I understand it, and I understand it and it is one thing. very interesting and I’ll let you know.
“In the meantime, we love America and we love what’s happening. Thank you.”
A video posted on social media showed Trump waving to his followers from the back of a car.
Trump was airlifted to the hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, late on Friday when his condition worsened.
