Firefighters are currently at the scene of a fire in a 12-story office building in the Auckland CBD.
A fire that prompted the evacuation of a 12-story office building in the Auckland CBD is believed to have started on the roof of the parking lot.
The fire broke out at the Tower Center on Fanshawe St, near the corner of Federal St Monday morning, a fire and emergency spokesperson confirmed.
Auckland Transport said a section of Fanshawe St had been closed between Albert and Hobson St.
“Be prepared for some delays in traffic and bus services operating on this route and follow the detour,” he said.

Incident Controller Roger Callister, at the scene, said the fire appeared to have started in an external void in the roof of one of the parking lots.
“The most important thing was that the fire watch informed us that everyone was out,” Callister said.
“We were looking for the fire inside the building, but it was finally found in an external basement, on an empty roof of the parking lot.”
Callister said it could have been caused by cables, people or workers.
“It could have been a number of things that is too early to say at this stage.”
The Tower Center building is used by businesses, including media investment firm GroupM, which has offices around the world.
