The Health Ministry on Saturday reported a new case of coronavirus in New Zealand, detected in a managed isolation facility.
No new cases have been found in the community.
The new case arrived in New Zealand on October 1, on a flight from England via Hong Kong. They are now in a quarantine facility in Auckland.
The total number of cases in New Zealand to date is 1,493. There are currently 41 active cases, with three more recovered. Thirty-three are from managed isolation facilities, eight in the community.
The Health Ministry also said measures will be implemented at the voting booths, which open today, to protect voters against the virus.
“If you plan to vote in person, there are a variety of steps to keep you and those around you safe from COVID-19. There are also simple steps you can take.”
- Remember to scan at your polling place with the NZ COVID Tracer app
- Use the hand sanitizer provided when entering and leaving the polling place
- Bring your own pen to mark your ballot, if you can
- Try to stay away from people you don’t know inside the polling place, even at alert level 1.
The death toll here is still 25.
