At this stage, New Zealand will not offer the same treatment for Australians when the “travel zone” opens on October 16, according to 1 NEWS.
Kiwis traveling to Australia will have to be quarantined upon their return here and will have to pay for it if they go for a reason such as a vacation.

Australian Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said it would “allow New Zealanders and other New Zealand residents who have not been to an area designated as a ‘Covid-19 hotspot’, in New Zealand in the previous 14 days, to travel without quarantine Australia. “
McCormack said the threshold for an area to be classified as a hot spot was three days with fewer than three cases.
He said that if a New Zealander has not been in a “hot spot” for the past 14 days, “they are welcome to come to the Northern Territory, they are welcome to come to New South Wales.”
“This is the first stage of what we hope to see as a trans-Tasman bubble between the two countries, not just that state and that territory.”

Earlier today, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was asked about a possible travel bubble shape.
“I want New Zealanders to keep in mind that even if Australia, and we have recognized that they can open one-way borders for New Zealanders to enter without quarantine, that does not mean they will not have to quarantine on their return.
“In fact, at this stage, they will.”
“In our opinion, we are not ready to go without quarantine with Australia. They have a very different strategy than ours.”
