Police have asked people near Takahe St in Masterton to keep an eye out for discarded items and to check their CCTV cameras (file photo).
Three male criminals fleeing a robbery assaulted a victim after he filmed them on his iPhone.
Last Sunday around 2.50pm, the victim encountered three people after they broke into her vehicle at Trust House Memorial Park in Masterton.
He started filming the attackers as they fled, and once they realized they were being filmed they assaulted him and took his phone.
The victim had minor injuries and police said he was understandably shocked by the incident. They had offered support to the victims.

The attackers fled the scene and were last seen heading towards Takahe St in an area known as the bird sanctuary.
The police made inquiries and one of the offenders, a young man, was charged and will appear in juvenile court on Thursday.
Police said people in the area should search their properties for the iPhone or other items that may have been discarded.
People were also asked to check their homes’ CCTV cameras for footage of three men walking on Takahe St on September 27.
