There are three new cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand today, the Health Ministry announced.
Today’s updated figures were provided in a statement and a press conference was not held this afternoon after three new community cases and six historical cases were announced yesterday.
Today’s three cases are all managed isolation. There are none in the community.
The Health Ministry said the three new cases are all separate returnees who arrived on different flights from the United States on Sept. 18; from London via Dubai on September 16 and from Croatia via Frankfurt and Dubai on September 18.
Two are in quarantine in Auckland, while the third case is in quarantine in Rotorua.
The update means New Zealand has 1,471 confirmed cases to date, 65 of which are still active.
There are still three cases in the hospital, one in Auckland, Middlemore and North Shore hospitals, none of which are in intensive care.
Since August 11, 4,044 close case contacts have been identified, of which 4,025 have been contacted and are self-isolating or have completed self-isolation.
Yesterday, the labs processed 6,142 tests, bringing the total number of tests completed to date to 930,779.
Locations of interest identified in three previous cases
The Health Ministry added that they continue to contact, track, test and isolate close contacts of the three community cases that were reported yesterday.
All three cases are part of the same family and have been isolated for the past four days where they have been interviewed since.
Interviews have found that the family traveled to Taupō between September 18 and 20, where they met with 18 other people from five locations in New Zealand. Those 18 people, along with 13 others identified since then as close contacts, are now being isolated and undergoing tests.
Interviews also revealed places and times of interest, including Christchurch National Airport on September 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the hot pools at DeBretts Spa Resort in Taupō on September 18 from 2:30 p.m. pm to 7 pm and Taupō Tandem Skydiving based at Taupō Airport on September 19 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Just Cuts at Westfield in St Lukes was also identified on Thursday, September 17 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Health Ministry says that anyone visiting such places at such times should be aware of their health and get tested for symptoms.
