The Auckland Harbor Bridge is “for sale” a few days after it was damaged by a truck overturned in the wind.

The bridge was damaged on Friday when two trucks crashed in rapid succession after being overturned by wind gusts of up to 127 km / h.

Now a gambler from Auckland has had enough, and has decided to playfully put the famous bridge “for sale”.

The 1020 meter bridge is unreserved with the initial price set at just $ 1.

The seller says the bridge “has seen better days” and should be picked up within a week.

“Auckland Harbor Bridge as is. We definitely saw better days, still above the water (at this point),” says the seller.

“There is no purchase price now and the buyer must pick it up within a week of winning the auction.”

He also said he would consider swapping the bridge for a kayak and would welcome offers for a tunnel swap.

An interested viewer asked how the bridge works in bad weather and wrote: “Did you take it out in a strong wind, and if so, how did it work? Also, are clips or extras included? (I’ve been bitten before)”.

In response, the seller said: “It seems that he has had a bad time, it is a good idea to buy a bridge and overcome it. Clipons included.

The seller expects to collect at least $ 3.50 for the bridge.

The “auction” closes at 5.02 pm on Wednesday.

Work to repair the Harbor Bridge could begin Tuesday night with repair steel arriving from Taranaki.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transportation Agency General Manager for Transportation Brett Gliddon said they expected work to take two to three nights and southbound lanes would be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

He said they weren’t going to open until it was safe to do so, so they were undergoing a third independent peer review.

They hope to open two additional lanes by the end of this week.

The strut was in two pieces and bolted halfway. The damaged bottom piece would be removed and replaced with new steel that was currently being manufactured.

Southbound lanes would close between 9:00 p.m. M. And 5:00 a. M. And traffic would be diverted to the western ring route to allow the works to take place.
