Chase host Bradley Walsh was shocked when he asked contestant Liz where she was from and she replied “Middlesex.”
“You don’t sound very Middlesexian, if you don’t mind me telling you,” he told her, before she clarified that she was, in fact, originally from New Zealand.
The Kiwi appeared on an episode of The Chase that aired last night in New Zealand.
Liz from New Zealand told Walsh that if she made money she would like to put it on a trip to Everest base camp.
While she got some questions wrong, Liz answered questions about YouTube influencers, Yes minister and the game of blackjack, among other topics.
She too, of course, asked a correct question about The Lord of the Rings.
The Kiwi contestant went toe-to-toe with Paul “The Sinnerman” Sinha, who said that she “would not have been allowed to return to New Zealand for a while” had she not answered the Lord of the Rings question correctly.
Liz did well for a while and made up to £ 6,000, which according to Walsh was “around 78,000” NZ dollars, although it’s actually only around $ 11,400.
In the end, she was “caught” and left without her money to travel to Everest.
