One person was seriously injured after being hit by a train in an inner Auckland suburb.

The person was beaten at the Kingsland train station, police said.

“Police and emergency services were called to the station on New North Road around 3:15 pm today,” police said.

“One person has been taken to the hospital in critical condition.”

Train services were currently suspended in the area while police remained in place.

St John said an ambulance and a manager rushed to the scene.

“St John treated and transported a critically ill patient to Auckland City Hospital,” a St John spokeswoman said.

The serious incident will add to delays for travelers on Auckland’s public transport and road network after two trucks crashed onto the Auckland Harbor Bridge earlier, closing lanes of the motorway.

“Due to an emergency services incident at Kingsland Station, please expect delays and cancellations along the Western Line,” Auckland Transport tweeted.

“Services will end at Morningside. Please utilize scheduled bus services in the meantime. Updates to follow.”
