Chapel Downs Elementary School has been closed through Monday.
A pupil at a South Auckland primary school tested positive for coronavirus.
The Covid-19 case has closed Chapel Downs Elementary School in Flat Bush.
A message sent to the school community said the boy and three close contacts were dropped off before school on Monday, September 14.
They were there for half an hour until they were picked up around 9am.

The boy returned a positive result later that day.

Someone who attends gym class before testing positive for Covid-19 can extend the time it takes to reach the top of the Auckland group.
Chapel Downs Principal Vaughan van Rensburg said the school learned of the case at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
“It is a challenge.”
He said he had limited information and that the Health Ministry had ordered him not to comment further.

Van Rensburg said he was not a close contact, so he did not isolate himself.
The message to the school community said the school would reopen on September 21 unless it received advice suggesting it should remain closed.
The news comes hours after Nigel Huirama Te Hiko’s whānau, 54, confirmed his death from Covid-19.
Te Hiko, a revered leader and historian from Raukawa, died Tuesday afternoon in the intensive care unit at Waikato Hospital.
His death comes almost two weeks after his brother, Alan Te Hiko, died from the virus at Middlemore Hospital.
The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ashley Bloomfield, spoke about the death of Nigel Te Hiko during Wednesday’s press conference, saying that his whānau wanted people to know that the virus is “so real.”

Chief Health Officer Dr. Ashley Bloomfield said Nigel Te Hiko’s whānau had asked for people to be alert.
“They have called on all New Zealanders: If you are sick and have symptoms, stay home.”
A new imported case of coronavirus, found in controlled isolation, was announced at Wednesday’s press conference.
This is a woman in her 30s who arrived from Dubai on September 9 and is related to the three cases reported on Tuesday.
