Police say 29-year-old Tony Moses was admitted to the hospital early this morning with a single gunshot wound to the lower abdomen, Manukau Counties CIB Detective Inspector Chris Barry said.

He left the hospital of his own free will shortly after being admitted.

The 29-year-old requires urgent medical treatment and surgery to remove the bullet.

“Moses also has arrest warrants for illegal possession of a firearm and for violating the conditions of release,” Barry said.

“Detectives are investigating the circumstances of the shooting and cannot rule out the possibility that the injury was accidentally self-inflicted.”

Anyone with information on where Moses is or illegal weapons can contact the police confidentially via non-emergency reporting line 105 and cite reference number 200915/0771.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
