National Party leader Judith Collins has been immortalized in a tattoo depicting her as the Bond girl from New Zealand.
The piece was created by Morrinsville tattoo artist Dave Mouat of Famous Dave’s Tattoo Studio for a man he described as a great national supporter of Te Aroha.
“He’s a regular customer and he said he’d like to get a Judith Collins tattoo,” Mouat told the Herald today.
After studying several photos and images of Collins, Mouat came up with a design based on the 007 James Bond movies.
“She has a Bond girl feel to her, so I thought that would be cool.
“Judith – she does a little anti-aircraft fire and deserves a little help in the [public relations] side I think.
“I hope you like it. I love tattooing with a positive style and the intention is good.”
The tattoo shows a determined-looking Collins, in an aqua blue jacket, holding a gold pistol. The New Zealand flag is behind her.
Just below are the words “Crusher Collins”.
“I blinked at him a little [by adding the gold rings]. I thought it would make it more attractive. “
The design and tattoo process took a total of 10 hours to complete.
He said the man he tattooed was delighted with the end result.
When asked about his own political views, Mouat said that if he had to choose between Labor and National, then he would lean more toward the blue corner.
“But I am more in favor of the smaller parties,” he said.
When asked if he had created a tattoo of any other politician, he said no.
Mouat is also behind the chief health officer Dr. Ashley Bloomfield’s tattoo, which made headlines earlier this month.
The creation showed Bloomfield with her hair blowing in the wind against the backdrop of New Zealand icons.
The tattoo was for a woman who had been locked up and felt like the daily updates from the Bloomfield Covid-19 conference at 1pm had become the highlight of her day.
