The Government today introduced a series of operational changes to ensure that people tested for coronavirus at the New Zealand border comply with the new requirements.
It occurs when all air, sea, and managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) workers are required to have had a second round of testing for Covid-19 at 11:59 p.m. tonight.
A new law goes into effect tonight, meaning MIQ workers must undergo tests every seven days starting tomorrow.
Air and maritime workers must be tested every 14 days under the new law.
Workers in all of the above industries and facilities can now be fined up to $ 1000 for refusing a test without good reason.
The Ministry of Health today announced the changes to its daily press release on Covid-19 numbers.
“These changes reflect our growing understanding of health risks and how to further strengthen our efforts to keep Covid-19 out of New Zealand. This set of changes also meets all the requirements for isolation administered in a single order, regardless. of the circumstances through which people could enter the MIQ (through the air border, the maritime border or the community Covid-19 cases), “said the statement from the Ministry of Health.
“Changes to the maritime boundary strengthen the requirements for testing, isolation and quarantine of arriving crew.
“They also introduce offense offenses under the Covid-19 Act. The Required Testing Order allows the introduction of routine, continuous, and mandatory Covid-19 testing for all border workers,” the statement said.
