Jazz Tevaga is trashed by referee Grant Atkins.
Warriors forward Jazz Tevaga has been sensationally sent off for the sin against the Parramatta Eels for a harmless incident that occurs dozens of times in every NRL game, causing Sunday’s commentators to rage.
Veteran caller Andrew Voss has called the incident “the worst garbage I’ve ever seen,” which won’t be a consolation to Warriors fans given the impact the bizarre decision had on the game.
At 17 minutes into the game in which the Eels finally won 24-18, fierce Eels blocking Nathan Brown, who was involved in a tackle to Tevaga, appeared to push his head down on Tevaga’s as he lay on the floor.
Tevaga, who was the color of Brown, reacted and pushed towards Brown’s face while the Warrior remained on his back.

After a little fight and a protest from Eels running back Mitchell Moses, referee Grant Atkins sent Tevaga to the trash and the commentators in a fit of rage.
“You hit him on the head,” Atkins told Tevaga.
“If that’s the benchmark for a sin-bin … rugby league has changed forever,” Voss said.
Tevaga’s time in the bin proved costly for the Warriors, as the Eels scored two attempts in that time that likely proved the difference in the tight game.
“That’s ridiculous, that’s really ridiculous,” commentator Greg Alexander said during the broadcast.
“He still had his color and he put his hand to his face, so what?”
“He pushed his hand forward, he just pushed … it’s like a shove,” Alexander raged.
When the incident was repeated, Voss continued this scathing attack on Atkins’s decision.
“It wouldn’t have hit the skin of a custard,” Voss said.
“Jazz Tevaga is now off the field for 10 minutes for that, for that,” Voss yelled in disbelief as another replay was shown.
Several minutes later, as the game continued, Voss was still struggling to process the decision.
“I know we have to move on and we will, but I am going to declare that, on the fly, it is the worst garbage I have ever seen,” Voss said in a cheerful tone.
