Originally from Timaru, James “Kiwi” Oroc Greg Johnston’s last track point was spotted southwest of the city of Eureka eight days ago this past Sunday New Zealand time.
He previously lived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and New Orleans, Louisiana.
Volunteers have been flying helicopters, drones and planes to try to find Johnston, and local authorities are no longer part of the search.
About 15 people are continuing the search and seeking help from people who could help by scanning satellite images of the area over 200 miles that it might be. Seekers and supporters were coordinating through a Go Fund Me page, asking for help.
His sister Kelly Johnston said that his brother had survived adventures in the past that had gone to the end, and that if anyone could survive the situation it was him.
“His friends and family know that if anyone can get out of this situation with a story to tell, it is him.”
He asked people to contribute to the Go Fund Me campaign to help fund the search, which is on rough and difficult terrain.
“We are grateful for each and every donation, but we must also maintain funding so that the intensive search can continue to search for our brother.”
