Synergy Health and Fitness Club at The Terrace in Wellington is closed after a death at the club.
One person died after a “serious incident” in a pool at a downtown gym on Monday.
Synergy Health & Fitness Club paid tribute to staff member Ben May in a social media post Monday night.
“It is with great sadness and great regret that we notify you of the untimely passing of Ben May, Synergy’s swimming coach and manager,” the post reads.
Police, firefighters and an ambulance attended the incident at The Terrace club around 7:30 am Monday.
A police spokeswoman said there was no indication of suspicious circumstances in connection with the death, but declined to comment further.

The gym declined to comment Stuff, But in his post on social media, he said that the Australian citizen was an instructor and coach at his swimming school.
May was a former competitive swimmer who had trained and trained alongside Olympic and Commonwealth medalists, the post read.
May had moved to New Zealand to play rugby.
