American documentarian Michael Moore has a warning for Democrats: History will repeat itself in the November elections.
In 2016, Moore was one of the few political activists who had predicted that Donald Trump would defeat Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton at the polls.
Now he has warned that the incumbent is on the way to winning if the Democratic party does not change its way of acting and if people do not go out to vote.
Moore wrote in a Facebook post that Democrats appear to be making the same election loss mistakes they made in 2016.
“I’m sorry to have to give the reality check again, but when CNN surveyed registered voters in August only in the swing states, Biden and Trump were pretty much tied. In Minnesota, it’s 47-47. In Michigan, where Biden had a great leader, Trump has closed the gap to 4 points, “said Moore.
He then asked, “Are you ready for a Trump victory? Are you mentally prepared to be outwitted by Trump again? Are you comforted by your certainty that there is no way Trump can win? Are you happy with the trust you have placed? at the DNC to achieve this? “
Moore noted that Democrats are on the path of making the same mistakes they made during the Clinton campaign.
“The Biden campaign just announced that he will visit several states, but not Michigan. Sound familiar?” I ask.
Clinton was widely criticized for not spending enough time and attention on the swing states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, which observers partly blamed for costing her the election. Traditionally Democratic states ended up going to Trump by very narrow margins.
Pennsylvania and Michigan last voted Republican in 1988 under George HW Bush, while Wisconsin hadn’t turned red since 1984 under Ronald Reagan.
“I’m giving you almost 10 weeks’ notice. The level of enthusiasm for the $ 60 million in Trump base is OFF THE LETTERS! For Joe, not so much,” Moore wrote.
“Don’t let the Democrats get rid of Trump. YOU have to get rid of Trump. We have to wake up every day for the next 67 days and make sure each of us is going to get a hundred people out to vote. ACT NOW!”
Moore accompanied his Facebook post with a screenshot of the poll results, showing Biden at 49 percent and Trump at 48 percent among registered voters in the battle states.
Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin are considered transitional or battlefield states because votes are often very close among candidates in those states.
In October 2016, just weeks before the election, Moore, a Bernie Sanders supporter, had told attendees of a screening that “Trump’s election is going to be the biggest ‘fucking’ ever recorded in the history of humanity, and it will feel good, “Moore said, according to Salon, referring to lower- and middle-class voters who felt they were being ignored.
“Whether Trump means it or not is irrelevant because he is saying things to people who are suffering, and that is why all the defeated, anonymous and forgotten workers who used to be part of what was called the middle class love to Trump. ” Moore said.
“He’s the human Molotov cocktail you’ve been waiting for, the human hand grenade that you can legally throw at the system that stole your life.”
