A neighbor desperately tried to save a woman after she was stabbed and set on fire.
Tania Maree Hadley, a mother of two in her 40s, died at a property she owned on May Rd, Mt Roskill on Friday morning.
A 29-year-old man has been charged with his murder.

A car on the property was badly damaged by a fire.
One of Hadley’s neighbors, who asked not to be identified, said she looked at the next door at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and saw a fire in the car.
She saw him “explode” several times.
The woman climbed onto her fence for a better view and saw another neighbor trying to help Hadley.
“He ran to her and put [the fire] outside.”
The man grabbed Hadley and put her in his shed to protect her, he said.
However, despite her efforts, she succumbed to her critical injuries shortly after the emergency services arrived.
The rescuer refused to comment.
The 29-year-old man accused of his murder was arrested nearby.
He appeared via the audio visual link at Auckland District Court on Saturday morning, where he was granted the provisional name deletion following a request from his attorney Jo Wickliffe.
A justice of the peace referred the man to custody without reason.
He is scheduled to appear in Auckland High Court on Wednesday.
In a social media tribute, Hadley’s son-in-law, Macau Johnson-Hadley, said his family had “lost one of our rocks, and words cannot express how distressed we are because Mom … was taken from us too much .. . soon “.
“Mom was always there to help in any way she could, be it at work, in life, even with strangers.”
Johnson-Hadley said her mother-in-law should be remembered as a worker and a “kind soul.”
“We miss her very much and we still cannot understand what happened.
“Fly high our angel … although times were tough, you made a short life of something incredible for yourself. We miss you so much and we wish we could have a last moment with you.”
On Friday, Detective Sergeant Scott Armstrong of the Auckland City Police confirmed that the victim and the alleged offender knew each other.
Puletasi Matthews has lived across the road from Hadley’s property for approximately 20 years.

He realized something was wrong when he saw black smoke coming out of a car in the driveway on Friday morning.
Matthews said he was surprised to find out what had happened.

The property and the house next door remained cordoned off on Saturday. Several police officers could be seen working in and around a blue tent.
At around 11:45 a.m., a large plastic bag filled with what appeared to be personal protective equipment was removed from the property.
Shortly after noon, a small burned silver truck was removed from the property by a crane.
Three bouquets of flowers have been placed on the scene.
May Rd resident Janelle Haig said it sounded like someone was firing large fireworks at the property on Friday morning.
“It was intense,” he said.
May Rd was a very “family oriented” area, Haig said.
“We don’t want this kind of thing to happen in our neighborhood because of the kids.
“The area is crazy, but a good kind of crazy.”
At least 23 people have died in suspicious or homicidal circumstances in New Zealand so far in 2020.
At the same time, last year there were 77 alleged homicides. Last year’s death toll closed at 126, including the 51 people who died in the Christchurch terror attack.
On average, there are 70 homicides in New Zealand each year. The 1.6 homicide rate per 100,000 people is well below the OECD average of 3.6 per 100,000.
