A man has been charged with murder following the death of a 30-year-old man in an Auckland brothel in March.
Acting Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin of the Auckland City Police said the 60-year-old man who was arrested knew the victim, Zion Gutnik.
Police had been called to Club 574 on Manukau Rd, Epsom, in the early hours of March 10, and a murder investigation was launched after Gutnik was found dead.
Since then, the police had worked “tirelessly” on the case, Baldwin said.

“The family of the deceased has been notified of the arrest, yet they are still grieving and have asked for privacy during this difficult time.”
Baldwin said he was “very proud” of the determination and attention to detail undertaken by the Operation Anniston Investigation team.
“The team has worked some very long days, for the past six weeks. While this is an important milestone in the investigation, there is still a lot of work ahead as the matter progresses through the prosecution phase.”
We hope that today’s arrest will provide the victim’s family with a degree of reassurance. “
The man is expected to appear in Auckland District Court on Thursday charged with murder.
