Actress Anne Hathaway has offered a story about her original audition for the role of Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises in 2012, and it’s strange.

Hathaway told the BBC in a republished interview this week that he met with director Christopher Nolan to audition for the iconic role in the Batman universe, the latest installment in the director’s Dark Knight trilogy.

However, somehow Hathaway crossed his cables and thought he was auditioning for the role of Harley Quinn, an accessory to the Joker.

Hathaway made sure to dress up the role for the audition, channeling the menacing energy of the Joker’s clown.

“I came in and I had this lovely beautiful but crazy Vivienne Westwood tailoring top with stripes that went everywhere. And I was wearing these Joker-looking flats. And I was trying to give Chris (Nolan) these crazy little smiles,” Hathaway explained. .

“About an hour after the meeting, he said, ‘Well, I’m sure I don’t have to tell you this, but it’s Catwoman.’ And she was shifting into a different gear.” Now, we’re slippery. We are slippery. And I hate my shirt. I love my shirt, but I hate it right now. We are slippery, “he recalled. With a laugh

Hathaway doesn’t elaborate on how he made the confusion, but Harley Quinn didn’t appear in the Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

It would be another four years for fans to see Quinn come to life on the big screen by Australian actress Margot Robbie in the 2016 Suicide Squad. Robbie revisited the character this year for the Birds of Prey spin-off.

As for Catwoman? The next one will be performed by Zoe Kravitz in The Batman, which will be released next year.
