Shoppers at a Big W store in Australia had to part ways after an altercation over baby formula, and the entire stoush was captured on video.
The shoppers confronted a man and a woman after they were allegedly spotted lining the box with formula cans multiple times.
Another buyer told a man he was carrying two cans of formula and a face mask to “replace” because Big W limits the number of cans per customer, reports news.com.au.
The conflict escalates before other shoppers and staff step in, confiscating the cans and escorting the couple out of the store.
“Australians clearly have had enough,” said the woman who posted the video on Facebook.
The clip has received more than 1,500 likes and over 480 retweets since it was shared on Sunday morning.
The confrontation began when a man standing in line behind the couple stepped forward and told them to “put it back on.”
The woman said that it was not “your business” and her partner asked her: “What have I done?”
“I’ll take you outside,” the buyer says to the man holding the cans, before the two start attacking each other.
The images show other shoppers running to separate the couple before a Big W staff member intervenes.
“You are not allowed to buy the formula and that’s it,” he says to the couple.
Many have shared words of support on social media for the man who confronted the couple.
“This was always going to happen. Calm Australians will take matters into their own hands when they have had enough of the piss,” wrote one Twitter user.
“Well done to the gentleman who had the courage to call them,” added another. “If we all display the same value, this behavior would not occur. Enough is enough!”
Major retailers such as Big W, Coles and Woolworths have long had a policy of two cans of baby formula per purchase to deter those who are believed to be buying on behalf of others and shipping products abroad.
After shoppers at a supermarket in South Sydney were recently filmed filling carts with baby formula, Coles said: “It is extremely disappointing when any customer does not meet established product limits to ensure everyone has access to food. essential they need. “
