A 4-year-old boy and his 6-year-old sister were killed after a truck struck them while playing miniature golf on a Florida course, authorities said Saturday.

Panama City Beach police said in a news release that the driver, Scott Donaldson, veered off the road and ended up on the track, hitting the two little brothers on Friday.

The boy died at the Coconut Creek Family Fun Park while his sister was taken to a hospital and later died.

Debbie Ward, a spokeswoman for Panama City Beach, said the family was visiting from Louisville, Kentucky.

The charges were pending as the accident remains under investigation. Authorities did not immediately release the names of the victims.

“This is a tragic event and our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” Ward said in an emailed statement.

“We have had grief counselors and clergy with the family since this happened.”
