Four people were injured after a collision between a school bus and at least three parked vehicles on Chapel Rd in Flat Bush, Auckland.

One seriously injured person was taken to Middlemore Hospital and three other people were treated at the scene, a spokeswoman for St John Ambulance said.

Two of the three had minor injuries and the third was moderately injured.

Howick College students were on the Murphy HO5 and HO11 bus, the school confirmed on its website. He says that none were injured.

A man in one of the cars, Maveen Prasad, says he was parked when the out-of-control bus struck him from behind.

The accident occurred between Michael Jones Drive and Fusion Rd at 3.50 pm.

Police diverted traffic around the collision and a large section of Chapel Rd was closed.

Traffic is bumper-to-bumper at the Michael Jones Drive detour, making the rush hour drive home even longer.
