2020 Election Results: Law Leader David Seymour, Happy With First Votes, Thanks Neighbors

Act Party leader David Seymour told Mike Hosking that he was very happy with the vote thus far and thanked his neighbors in the Epsom electorate who trusted him enough to re-elect him for another term.

He said that with 7.6 percent of the vote it meant 10 members of parliament. “They have a great reputation for everything they have done,” he said.

Among them were an experienced lawyer and a former policeman.

Seymour said Act began training the new candidates 18 months ago and that they had spent a lot of time together on the national bus tour and were ready for their parliamentary role.

He said that while he would likely face another term in the opposition, he would continue to point out how to forge a better path.

Seymour said he calculated the anticipated loss for the right wing as following international trends, with incumbent governments returning to power in times of crisis.
