Now you can find the first two titles of the survival series Don’t Starve in the Google Play store, and both ports were published by original developer Klei Entertainment. Well, it appears that Klei has granted Tencent access to the property to create a new mobile game created from scratch for mobile devices. Tencent is currently offering a closed beta subscription to the game, which will go into testing this July. So if you want to take a look early on Don’t Starve: Newhome make sure sign up for beta access on the official website.
Since Don’t Starve: Newhome has just been announced, the trailer only offers an animated cinematic as it pushes stakeholders towards the game’s closed beta record. So, unsurprisingly, there is very little information to go on right now. What we do know is that the game is being developed by Shengqu Games and that Tencent will publish the title. It looks like Newhome will continue to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors, so it will launch as a survival game that contains building and building bases, and it looks like you’ll be able to play with your friends, possibly online. Of course, since it’s also the first mobile-centric release in the series, Klei has declared that Newhome will be “a little different than the traditional Don’t Starve experience” that sets off alarms.
As for the upcoming closed beta of the game, you can sign up right now, just be aware that only those living in the US and Canada will be able to participate. The beta version will start sometime in mid-July, and the game’s data will be erased once the closed beta version ends, which means that the title’s monetization will not be available during this test. As expected, a Gmail address is required to register. It is also worth bearing in mind that only 5000 players will be able to participate, so if you are interested, be sure to register soon at the Don’t Starve: Newhome official web site.
